Dunajec

The Dunajec ( German Dunajez / Dunajec River or rarely Dohnst ) is a right, not navigable tributary of the Vistula River in the Western Carpathians ( southern Poland) by 247 kilometers in length, which, with its headwaters Czarny Dunajec ( Black Dohnst ) and Bialy Dunajec ( White Dohnst ) in the Tatra springs.

Both source rivers unite in Nowy Targ to the Dunajec, this is accumulated in the reservoirs Jezioro Czorsztyńskie and Jezioro Sromowickie. At the junction of Lipník at Cerveny Kláštor the old Vistula and Tisza trade route led across the river. At the ford was on the Slovak side of the Red Monastery. For tourists, several companies organize departures on wooden rafts (eg on the Polish side of Sromowce to Szczawnica or Krościenko ).
