Dünserberg

Dünserberg with 143 inhabitants ( as of December 31, 2013) is the smallest municipality in the Austrian province of Vorarlberg. The small Walser village is located on the hillside above the Walgaugemeinden Düns and Schnifis.

Geography

Dünserberg is located in the westernmost province of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the district of Feldkirch to 1,270 meters above sea level. 45.8 % of the area is forested, 20.2 % of the area Alps. Quarters are Dünserberg and Schnifnerberg.

History

The Habsburgs ruled the areas in Vorarlberg changing of Tyrol and Further Austria from ( Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814, the town belonged to Bavaria, then back to Austria. For the Austrian state of Vorarlberg Dünserberg heard since the foundation in 1861. The place was from 1945 to 1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria.

The coat of arms was designed by Konrad Honold. The illustrated crest erect Capricorn reminds us of the settlement by the Walser ( Walser character of the free dating from 1408 ).
