Dustin O'Halloran

Dustin J. O'Halloran ( born September 8, 1971 in Arizona) is an American pianist and composer. He works and lives in Berlin.

Life

Born in Arizona spent Dustin O'Halloran his childhood in Hawaii and Los Angeles. At the age of seven he received piano lessons and gave the age of eleven first concerts where he performed his own compositions. During his studies at Santa Monica College, he met the singer and musician Sara Lov, with whom he formed the band together in 1996 Devics. The band released several albums under the label Bella Union and completed international tours. By working together on the soundtrack of Giuseppe Bertolucci's film " L' amore probabilmente " Dustin O'Halloran first gained experience in the field of film music. 2004 O'Halloran wandered to Italy, where he laid the foundation for his career as a composer and solo pianist. In the rural region of Emilia -Romagna, he recorded his first solo album ( Piano Solos, 2004). Shortly afterwards, the director Sofia Coppola became aware of Dustin's solo debut and hired him for the soundtrack of her historical drama Marie Antoinette. Music style

Dustin O'Halloran's compositions are inspired by important representatives of classical and contemporary music, like Erik Satie and Arvo Pärt, Frédéric Chopin and Philip Glass. The pianists are characterized by a filigree style of composition can be influenced in his music as well by the enigmatic worlds of music of the bands Sigur Rós and Efterklang. Dustin O'Halloran performs regularly as a solo pianist or accompanied by strings live. With the latter, he has the 2011 album "A Winged Victory for the Sullen " recorded.
