Eddy Ottoz
Eddy Ottoz ( born June 3, 1944 in Mandelieu- la -Napoule in the Alpes- Maritimes, France ) was an Italian athlete. At a height of 1.79 m his competition weight was 67 kg.
Eddy Ottoz was the best European hurdler in the second half of the 1960s.
Career
At the age of 20 years Ottoz stepped up to the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964. In 13.8 s, he was fourth in the 110- meter hurdles and was second best behind the Europeans starting for the Soviet Union Anatoly third place. With Giovanni Cornacchia at number seven and Giorgio Mazza in eighth place two more Italians were in the finals of Tokyo.
Two years later at the European Championships in Budapest in 1966 won Eddy Ottoz in 13.7 s gold before Hinrich John from the Federal Republic of Germany, as the third-placed Frenchman Marcel Duriez 14.0 s needed. Places four and five, the two winners of the European Championships in 1962, Mikhailov and Cornacchia came to the finish of the third Italian Sergio Liani was sixth.
In Mexico City in the 1968 Olympic Games new world records have been set due to the altitude on almost all short running distances. The hurdles made an exception here, since the winner Willie Davenport s remained a tenth of a second over the world record from the United States with 13.3.
