Edward Joseph Hunkeler

Edward Joseph Hunkeler ( born January 1, 1894 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, USA, † October 1, 1970 ) was Archbishop of Kansas City.

Life

Edward Joseph Hunkeler received on 14 June 1919, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On March 10, 1945, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Bishop of Grand Iceland. The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Giovanni Cicognani Amleto, donated to him on 1 May of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Omaha, James Hugh Ryan, and the Bishop of Green Bay, Stanislaus Vincent Bona.

On March 28, 1951, he was named Pius XII. Bishop of Kansas City. With the elevation of the diocese to an archdiocese on August 9, 1952 Edward Joseph Hunkeler first Archbishop of Kansas City was. On September 4, 1969 Hunkeler resigned and was appointed Titular Archbishop of Selsea.
