The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas (Latin: Archidioecesis Kansanopolitana in Kansas ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic church located in Kansas City, Kansas, United States.

History

The Archdiocese was posted on July 19, 1850 by Pope Pius IX. first as Apostolic Vicariate of Indian territories east of the Rocky Mountains founded out ( " Vicariate Apostolic of Indian Territory East of the Rocky Mountains " ) from the Archdiocese of New Orleans; the areas in today's states of Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana included. First bishop was the French Jesuit John Baptiste Miege. 1857 was the Apostolic Vicariate of Kansas. 1877 was the Vicariate of the Diocese of Leavenworth, whose first bishop of the German Benedictine Louis Mary (Michael) Fink was. On May 10, 1947 changed its name Pope Pius XII. the Diocese of Leavenworth to the diocese of Kansas; first bishop was George Joseph Donnelly. On 9 August 1952, the survey was conducted to the archbishopric.
