Roman Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls

The Diocese of Sioux Falls (Latin: Dioecesis Siouxormensis ) is a located in the United States Roman Catholic diocese based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

History

The Diocese of Sioux Falls was born on August 12, 1879 by Pope Leo XIII. out of territory of the Diocese of Saint Paul established as Apostolic Vicariate Dakota. The Apostolic Vicariate Dakota announced on November 10, 1889 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Jamestown.

On November 12, 1889, the Apostolic Vicariate of Dakota by Leo XIII. raised to the bishopric in the diocese of Sioux Falls and renamed. It was the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, is a suffragan. The Diocese of Sioux Falls announced on August 4, 1902 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Lead.
