Roman Catholic Diocese of Amarillo

The Diocese of Amarillo (Latin: Dioecesis Amarillensis ) is located in Texas in the United States Roman Catholic diocese based in Amarillo. It includes the Texas Panhandle in North Texas.

History

Pope Pius XI. founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Pastoris aeterni on August 3, 1926 cessions of territory of the Diocese of Dallas and the Archdiocese of San Antonio, where it was assumed as a suffragan.

On 16 October 1961 and March 25, 1983, it lost part of its territory to the Diocese of San Angelo and Lubbock diocese.
