Roman Catholic Diocese of San Angelo

The Diocese of San Angelo (Latin: Dioecesis Angeliana ) is located in Texas in the United States Roman Catholic diocese based in San Angelo. It includes the counties of Andrews, Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Concho, Crane, Crockett, Ector, Glasscock, Howard, Irion, Kimble, Martin, McCulloch, Menard, Midland, Mitchell, Nolan, Pecos, Reagan, Runnels, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, Taylor, Terrell, Tom Green and Upton of the State of Texas.

History

Pope John XXIII. founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Dei Qui consilio on October 16, 1961 from annexations of the dioceses Amarillo, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth and El Paso and it became the Archdiocese of San Antonio is a suffragan.

On March 25, 1983, lost parts of its territory to the Diocese of Lubbock.
