Egreš

Egres (Hungarian Szécsegres - to 1902 Egres ) is a municipality in the southeast Slovakia. It is located in the East Slovak Lowland by the river Chlmec and is about 10 kilometers west of the city Trebišov located.

The place was probably made in the 11th century, but was first mentioned in writing in 1398. Until 1918 it belonged as part of the Kingdom of Hungary to the county Semplin. Afterwards the place came to the newly created Czechoslovakia and since 1993 has been a part of today's Slovakia

The broad gauge track Uzhgorod - Košice runs north of the town around in a loop around it.

In the village live around 400 inhabitants, of whom 74 % are Slovaks and 24% Roma ( 2001).
