Geography
The municipality is located on the eastern shore of Lake Sempach Sempach and between Sursee. Since the construction of the motorway tunnel " calibration " the village is divided into two in the lower village on the lake and the upper village to the church. Through the village flows a stream which is called simple village stream. On the northern boundary of the municipality of fire stream that in the Oak Woods north of the hamlet of Upper Dog Gelle flows (714 m asl, 1.6 km north-east from the village ) via the hamlet of fire (711 m asl; 1, 6 km to the north from the village ) direction Schenkon. Population
Despite the charming scenic location on Lake Sempach and on a sunny slope, the population shrank to 1900 significantly ( decrease from 1850 to 1900: -21.2 %). Thereafter, the population fluctuated until the year 1970 470-520 residents. Since then, it grows because of the excellent access through the highway and the beautiful location continuously (increase from 1970 to 2004: 176.4 %) and will soon reach the milestone of 1,500 people.
Languages
The population speaks a high- Alemannic dialect. At the 2000 census, there were 97.69 % German, 0.48 % French, and 0.40% English as the main language / everyday language.
Religions - faiths
The population is traditionally Catholic. 75.24 % Roman Catholics, 15.21 % Evangelical Protestant, and 0.48 % Old Catholic Christians: At the last census, the following picture emerged confessional. There were 6.29% and 0.48 % non-religious Muslims.
Origin and nationality

In the elections in 2003 with 39.73 %, the CVP scored the most votes, closely followed by the FDP with 32.48 %. Followed by 17.29 %, the SVP. Thus, the three bourgeois parties reached a large majority of votes. The SP booked a 6.41% share of the vote, the Green Alliance 2.21%.
Traffic
The community lies at no railway line, but it has through the mail car line Sempach- New Kirch Sursee good connection to the network of public transport.

History
The area has been inhabited for millennia. Lake Sempach was around 1,700 BC, the coastal settlement. Also finds from the Hallstatt period, Roman and Alemannic time prove the permanent settlement.
The village was first mentioned under the name Heiche in the letter of protection of the German king Henry III. as the property of Canons Beromunster on 23 January 1045. Habsburg It was nominally managed by Sempach under the rule. However, the de facto rule over Twing and spell exercised the local priest.
