The breakpoint has two tracks, each one connects to the side of the platform. The northern platform to platform 1 has a length of 220 meters; the southern platform to platform 2 is 235 meters long. Furthermore, lockable bike boxes exist behind both platforms.

To the railway line around there is a slope. While the additions, which are respectively located in the center of the platform, are on the ground, but the distance in the direction of Aachen runs seen in the breakpoint Eilendorf above, after the breakpoint Eilendorf below ambient levels. The tracks can not be cross at the breakpoint itself; to a bridge west or an underpass must be east of the breakpoint used.

From the eastern end of the platforms offer view across the straight line on the Eilendorfer tunnel and the tunnel Nirmer. This place is very popular with railway photographers, why can find many pictures of moving trains through the Internet.

History

On September 1, 1841 opening of the railway from Cologne to Aachen by the Rhenish Railway Company took place. Already at that time was in Eilendorf a breakpoint whose name was Nirm during its start and was renamed in 1865. As a neighboring sawmill was a railway siding, the breakpoint Eilendorf was upgraded to the station.

In April 1897 a first, turned storey station building, 1914-1920 was built a new, larger station building. At this time were in a hurry village next to the two track rails between which a central platform was to be found, nor a Umfahrgleis and a railway for freight handling. The latter was housed in the first station building from 1897.

Its present form was the breakpoint Eilendorf during the electrification work on the railway line between Cologne and Aachen, which took place from 1963 to 1966. In place of the center platform were two side platforms; up to the line tracks all track systems were dismantled and the train station back to the breakpoint. The station building was demolished in 1988.

2003 Maintenance of Regional Express line RE 9 Rhein-Sieg- Express was set up in a hurry village. Shortly thereafter, calls were heard to have keep in Eilendorf the second regional express line, the RE 1 NRW - Express and so produce a 30 -minute intervals to Cologne. The timetable change 2009, the maintenance of the RE 9 in Eilendorf but was reinstated.

Traffic

The breakpoint Eilendorf during the day served every half hour of trains of Euregiobahn. This provides, among other direct connections to Aachen, Düren, Stolberg -Altstadt, Alsdorf and Heerlen. Trains to Cologne can be reached by driving to Stolberg Hbf and dortigem transition into a regional express, which amount to the transfer times 14-24 minutes. Driving time from Eilendorf by Rothe Erde is about three to Aachen main station about seven minutes. On weekdays, keep in Eilendorf morning and evening amplifier trains to and from Cologne or Dusseldorf.

The vertakteten features of the regional express lines RE 1 and RE 9, the Intercity Express and the Thalys drive through the breakpoint Eilendorf no scheduled stop.

The following overview lists the holding in Eilendorf in 2013 lines of the railway passenger to:

*: Only Mon-Fri morning two trips per direction.

Future

Currently plans are available for a reconstruction of the breakpoint Eilendorf. Firstly, the platform height of the erected around 1965 Eilendorfer side platforms in each case is 38 cm, which is below the entry level of the rail vehicles used, resulting in a barrier-free entrance prevented. Secondly, it is in the area of the breakpoint no way of crossing the tracks in the form of a bridge or underpass. Instead of the intended path over an adjacent bridge crossing despite increasingly faster trains run unauthorized passengers the tracks. A be imputed to avoid this behavior between the two tracks and provided with prohibitive signs chainlink fence shows due to its low height little effect.

In 2013, the purpose of urban transport association Rhineland, the Institute of Geography, RWTH Aachen and DB Station & Service was from Aachen Transport Association, conducted a feasibility study, which produced four possible variants. The first design option includes a transfer of the holding point by about 200 meters to the west, where stairs and elevators can be installed on an existing road bridge, similar is the case at the breakpoint Aachen Schanz. Another possibility is the relocation of the breakpoint to the east and the widening of an existing road underpass. The two remaining planning variants describe the renewal of the holding point to existing site while construction of a bridge or a pedestrian underpass.

The planned renovation of the holding point Eilendorf is subsidized by the European Union. For the construction of a Euregiobahn retention point Richterich, the transformation of the station Aachen West and the conversion of the breakpoint Eilendorf 550,000 euros will be made available.
