Elbtalaue

The Elbtalaue is an integrated municipality in the Lüchow -Dannenberg. It was formed from the joint communities Dannenberg (Elbe ) and Hitzacker (Elbe ) on 1 November 2006. The basis for this is the Lower Saxony law to strengthen local self-government in the Lüchow -Dannenberg.

The Elbtalaue comprises from 1 November 2006, two cities and eight municipalities. The unincorporated area Goehrde not part of the integrated municipality.

Policy
The Elbtalaue belongs to the state election district 48 Elbe and the Bundestag constituency 38 Lüchow -Dannenberg - Lüneburg.

The Samtgemeinderat, in addition to the integrated municipality mayor 34 more members, spread since November 1, 2006 to the following parties and voters compounds:

- Green List Wendland: 4 seats

- Independent voters Community: 3 seats
- Green: 2 seats
- Citizens list: 2 seats
Samtgemeinde Mayor
The independent Jürgen Meyer was chosen for the CDU in the local elections on 10 September 2006 and effective from 1 November 2006 for the full-time mayor of Elbtalaue.
