Elisabeth of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (1567–1618)

Elisabeth of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel (* February 23, 1567 at Castle Hesse, † October 24, 1618 in Otter Village ) was a princess of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel and by marriage, first Countess of Holstein -looking castle and afterwards Duchess of Brunswick- Harburg.

Life

Elizabeth was a daughter of the Duke Julius of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel (1528-1589) from his marriage to Hedwig (1540-1602), daughter of the Elector Joachim II of Brandenburg.

After the death of her first husband she married on October 28, 1604 Harburg castle with Duke Christoph von Braunschweig- Harburg ( 1570-1606 ). Christoph died only two years after the marriage after a fall. The marriage remained childless. Elizabeth lived since 1609 at the expense of the town of Harburg, in Bremen, but returned in 1617 and died the following year. She was buried at the side of her second husband in Harburg.
