Ellsworth Hoagland

Harry Ellsworth Hoagland (born 30 March 1892 in Red Oak, Iowa; † September 4, 1972 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American editor who was once nominated for an Oscar in the category of best cut and an Emmy for outstanding won achievements in film editing.

Life

Hoagland began his career as an editor in the film industry in Hollywood in 1933 the movie One Sunday Afternoon by Stephen Roberts with Gary Cooper, Fay Wray and Frances Fuller. Throughout his career, he contributed to the production of over sixty films and television series.

At the Academy Awards in 1936 he was nominated for the Oscar for Best Editing, and indeed for the adventure film Bengali (Original Title: The Lives of a Bengal Lancer, 1935), which was directed by Henry Hathaway with Gary Cooper, Franchot Tone and Richard Cromwell.

In 1966, Hoagland together with Marvin Coil and Everett Douglas an Emmy for outstanding individual performances in the film section for the produced 1959-1973 by the NBC western series Bonanza. He last worked in 1970 at the production of the television series The Immortal with.
