Emir Spahić ( born August 18, 1980 in Dubrovnik) is a Bosnian - Herzegovinian footballer.

Career

Clubs

Spahić began his career with the Croatian club NK Zagreb before moving to the Russian Premjer League Club Schinnik Yaroslavl at the beginning of 2004. About the other station Torpedo Moscow came Spahić the beginning of 2006 to Lokomotiv Moscow. In his new employer, he was not able to before-seen performances and did not get beyond the role of reservists after a serious injury. In early 2009 Spahić was transferred to a suspension in the second team of Lokomotiv Moscow. The until 2012 dated contract was terminated by mutual consent in March 2009. In July 2009 Spahić signed a one year contract at Montpellier, which was extended for another year. 2011 joined the center-back in the Spanish La Liga for FC Sevilla. End of January 2013 Spahić moved on loan to the Russian first division club Anzhi Makhachkala. For the 2013/14 season he was taken from Bayer 04 Leverkusen under contract.

National

Spahić debuted on September 6, 2003 in Bosnian herzegovinischen national football team. In the game against Norway he was in the starting lineup.

Family

Contrary to reports stating otherwise Spahić is not related to Edin Džeko of Manchester City, with which he, however, is " close friends " in his own words.
