Episcopal Conference of Turkey

The Turkish Catholic Bishops' Conference (French: Conférence Episcopale de Turquie ), the Assembly Committee of the Catholic Bishops and United in Turkey. She is a member of the Council of European Bishops 'Conferences (CCEE ) and guest member of the Southeast European Bishops' Conferences. For the Turkish state, the Turkish Catholic Bishops' Conference "de jure" is non-existent, so there is no mutual representative.

Catholics in Turkey

  • The municipality of the united Syrian Catholic Church has about 1,200 members, who are led by a choir bishop. Although he is not a bishop, he is a member as the representative of the Patriarch of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Turkey.
  • The Chaldean Catholic Church, which is united with Rome branch of the Syrian Orthodox Church of the East, has currently about 1,000 members. The Church is headed after the death of the Archbishop of the only Chaldean priest Turkey, who bears the title of a Patriarchalvikars.
  • The Roman Catholic Church has about 15,000 members, their bishop, the apostolic vicar of Istanbul, the Vicariate comprises the northern part of Turkey with Istanbul and Ankara.

Commissioner for Human Rights

At the request of the Turkish Bishops' Conference Dr. Otmar Oehring ( Mission " missionary " in Aachen ) was appointed attorney for the Catholic churches in Turkey. In this capacity, he has set the European Bishops' Conferences ( CCEE) and the European institutions for their interests and rights.
