Erika Hansson (born 2 July 1973 in Hedemora ) is a former Swedish alpine skier. Initially successful in all disciplines at the start and especially in combination, they focused throughout her career on the slalom and the giant slalom - her strongest discipline. The Junior World Champion in the combination of 1992 and two-time Swedish champion reached the podium and six top- 10 finishes and ranked fifth in the combined at the 1993 World Championships in the World Cup.

Career

The first major success came Erika Hansson with the victory in the combination at the Junior World Championship in 1992 in Maribor. Four weeks earlier, she had won 15 out of the combination of Grindelwald their first points in the World Cup. At the 1993 World Championships in Morioka Shizukuishi she reached the fifth place in the combination and 14th in the slalom, ranked 25th in the giant slalom and 33rd in the downhill. The combination initially remained Hansson's strongest discipline. So they reached in February 1994 as the Ninth combination in the Sierra Nevada their first top 10 in the World Cup. At the Olympic Winter Games 1994, she was 11th in the combination and 27th in the Super G and 34th in downhill. In the slalom and giant slalom she fell out in the first round.

From the season 1994/1995 to Hansson, who had previously started in all disciplines concentrated more on the technical slalom and giant slalom, scoring especially in the latter in the 1995/1996 season good results. She ran six times into the top ten and reached the second place behind Anita Wachter in the giant slalom in Cortina d' Ampezzo on January 21, 1996, the best World Cup result of her career. In the Giant Slalom World Cup they finished seventh. However, at the World Cup in 1996 in the Sierra Nevada they eliminated in the first giant slalom passage, as well as in the World Cup 1997 in Sestriere.

In the 1996/1997 season Hansson could their World Cup results of the previous year not to repeat. However, they went several times into the top 20 and finished 20th in the giant slalom World Cup. However, from the 1997/1998 season they could only rarely score, only in January and February 1999, she scored two top 20 results. On 31 October 1999 Hansson took their last World Cup race. Then she took part only in FIS races in Sweden and in the 2000/2001 season in FIS and University races in the USA, before she retired in 2001 from ski racing.

Together with her brother, Martin Hansson, who was until 2008 ski racer, she leads in her home town halls, the winter sports business Dalskidan.
