Erika Zuchold

Erika Zuchold, born Erika Barth, ( born March 19, 1947 in Lucka, Circle Altenburg ) is a former German gymnast. She won four silver medals and one bronze medal at the Olympic Games.

Life

Became world-famous Zuchold by the Flick Flack element ( hand support rollover reverse), which they showed on 7 June 1964 as the first gymnast on balance beam. In 1970 she became world champion in horse jumping and on the beam and Vice World Champion in the all around. For this she was elected the same year to the GDR female athlete of the year. She started for the SC Leipzig and trained with Ellen Berger and Sylvia Hlavacek.

Erika Zuchold ended in 1972 their athletes career and worked as an art teacher, tap dancer and trapeze artist. Later she was an abstract painter with several exhibitions. 2005 Zuchold was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. She was married to the cyclist Dieter Zuchold ( 1937-2014 ).
