Esik

JessiK ( Есік Kazakh, Russian Иссык, Issyk ) is a city in the territory of Almaty, Kazakhstan, at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains. It lies on the River JessiK, a tributary of the Ili, and 52 km from Almaty. JessiK got city rights in 1968.

The city was originally founded in 1858 as a Cossack village Nadegdinskaja ( Надеждинская ). The operations of the Gontscharno gypsum products, the local dairy farm (Food Master) and the textile factory are known.
