Étercy

Étercy is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Étercy is located on 504 m above sea level. M., about 9 km west of the town of Annecy (air line). This former farm extends in the foothills on a plateau some 150 meters above the valley of Fier, in the northern Albanais.

The area of ​​4.55 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Albanais. The northern boundary runs along the meandering course of the River Fier. This flows in a more or less deeply incised canyon ( Gorges du Fier ) from east to west and reaches below Étercy the open valley of Albanais. From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over a usually relatively gently rising slope to the plateau of Étercy bounded both in the West and in the East of gullies short tributaries of Fier. Attractions

The Parish Church Conversion de Saint -Paul was built in 1861 in the style of Neo-Romanesque. Here, the church tower was built in 1575 of the former priory of Saint -Paul was included. The church has a remarkable interior (mostly from the former priory ), including a Virgin and Child (17th century) and choir stalls from the 18th century.

Population

With 701 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Étercy one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. The village is located off the major thoroughfares, yet is within easy reach of the secondary road D16, which runs from Annecy to Rumilly. Further road links exist with Hauteville- sur- Fier and Chavanod. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of around 13 km.
