Étrelles-et-la-Montbleuse

Étrelles -et -la- Montbleuse is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Étrelles -et -la- Montbleuse situated at an altitude of 265 m above sea level, 7 km north-northeast of Gy and about 28 km north- northwest of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the southwest of the department, in Saônebecken on a hill east of the Petite Morte.

The area of ​​6.26 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the rolling countryside of south-east of the Saône. From southeast to northwest, the area is crossed by the broad valley of the Petite Morte, which provides for drainage over the Cabri for Morte. The valley is on average 240 m and has fertile alluvial soils that are used for agriculture. Flanked the valley of up to 30 m high hills, which are composed of Tertiary deposits. With 282 m is reached the highest elevation of the community at Étrelles. With a narrow tip, the municipality's area extends northward into the extensive grove of Bois de Saint- Gand.

The double municipality consists of the villages Étrelles (265 m) on the hill east of La Petite Morte and Montbleuse (230 m) on the southern edge of the Bois de Saint- Gand. Neighboring communities of Étrelles -et -la- Montbleuse are La Vernotte in the north, Frasnian -le- Château in the east, Villers- Chemin -et -Mont- lès- Étrelles and Vantoux -et- Longevelle in the south and La Chapelle -Saint- Quillain and Saint- Gand in the West.

History

Finds of tool ( silex) from prehistoric times suggest a very early settlement of the municipality. Through the area and the Roman road led from Besancon to Langres. Is first mentioned Étrelles in the year 1092. During the Middle Ages Étrelles and La Montbleuse belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Frasnian. Together with the Franche -Comté reached both villages with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In 1806 merged Étrelles and La Montbleuse to today's double municipality. Since 2007 Étrelles -et -la- Montbleuse is a member of the comprehensive 20 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Monts de Gy.

Attractions

In Étrelles is originally a Gothic church, which was restored in the 18th century, but is no longer used today.

Population

With 88 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Étrelles -et -la- Montbleuse one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 205 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Étrelles -et -la- Montbleuse was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Oiselay -et- Grachaux after Seveux. Further road links exist with Frasnian -le- Château, Saint- Gand and Villers- Chemin.
