Ettenstatt is a municipality in the district of Central Franconia White Castle -Gunzenhausen and a member of the administrative community Ellingen.

Geography

Geographical Location

The place is located in the West region of Middle Franconia (Northern Bavaria), on the northern edge of the Franconian Alb in Felchbachtal, about 8 km northeast of the county town of White Castle. Nuremberg is located approximately 50 km air distance further north. The neighboring municipalities are Plein field Höttingen and Burgsalach.

History

Was Ettenstatt in 985 in a donation of Emperor Otto III. first mentioned.

Incorporations

On 1 January 1973, until then independent municipality Reuth was incorporated under Neuhaus. Dog village and its districts was added on 1 May 1978.

Religions

Approx. 95 % of the population are nominally Christians, of which, in turn, about 80 % Evangelical Lutheran.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: Split of gold and black; front of a green mountain growing a green flower with silver flower, a left rear quarter silver free.

Meaning: The left half represents a Märzenbecher ( Spring snowflake ), whose large-scale occurrences (also Märzenbecher forest, fairy forest, bog wood) is in the forest above the village core is a landmark of the place. The right half refers to the historical affiliation of the place to the rule of gift giving of Geyern and the Margrave of Brandenburg- Ansbach.

Twinning

Since 1986 Ettenstatt connects a partnership with the town of Razvanje in Slovenia (district of Maribor). Both places are in the same document first mentioned (gift of Razvanje / Ross Wine by Emperor Otto III. , Issued in Ettenstatt 985 ). Ettenstatt has the partner community supports, in particular during the Bosnian war, when refugees were housed in Razvanje from there, had to be fed and cared for. Last official visit was the trip of Ettenstatter citizens for 1020- year anniversary in October 2005 after Razvanje.

Culture and sights

  • Märzenbecher forest, about a kilometer above the village core Ettenstatt. It includes a 500 by 200 meter section of a deciduous high forest with spring horizon at 480 meters above sea level ( nature reserve). In its heyday, a tourist attraction, Spring Snowflake flower recording even found in the coat of arms.
  • Stone trough at Rohrbach
  • Neuhaus Castle Ruin

The historic center of Ettensatt ensemble is under protection.
