Polsingen

Polsingen is a municipality in the district of Central Franconia White Castle -Gunzenhausen.

Geography

The municipality is located in the south of the county White Castle -Gunzenhausen, directly on the border with Swabia and therefore the district of Donau -Ries. The direct neighboring town is Wemding, are located in the surrounding area Oettingen, Treuchtlingen, Nördlingen, Wassertruedingen and White Castle.

By Polsingen the Rohrach flows; far north is Hahnenkammsee. The village lies on the Hahnenkamm and thus near the Altmühlmal Nature Park.

History

For the period of 1100 to 1518, the Lords of lake in the town are detectable. The first mention of Polsingen is dated to the year 1298. 1517 came Polsingen to the Margrave of Brandenburg- Ansbach. 1595 Polsingen parish church was built.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1971, the formerly independent communities Trendel and Ursheim were incorporated. On May 1, 1978, the incorporation of Döckingen followed.

Parish council

After the local elections in Bavaria 2008 14 members of the group of voters are in the all-male council Biirgerblock Döckingen.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: About silver sign foot, in a continuous red St. Andrew's cross, split, front in red with a silver male torso with golden chain necklace, quartered back of silver and black.

The coat of arms crest processed ingredients of its districts and indicated thus on the local history: The St. Andrew's cross stands for the Counts of Oettingen, who ruled in the district Trendel, while the dog's head points to the Polsingen Lords of the lake. The black-and- white crossing points toward the former regency by the margravate Brandenburg -Ansbach.

Monuments

The former Woellwarth `sche moated castle built by the Lords of the lake. It has a rectangular grave condition, a surrounding wall with round towers and a three-storey main building. It was 1517/18 by purchase by Margrave Casimir of Brandenburg to the Margrave of Brandenburg. 1580 acquired Hans Sigismund of Woellwarth the castle. The Lords of Woellwarth kept the castle until 1857. Then it was purchased by William Löhe from Neuendettelsau, who used it in 1865 as an institution building. Today it is one of diakonia Neuendettelsau.

Traffic

Through the village leads the state road 2384, about 8 km west of the B 466 runs Polsingen is surrounded by a hollow square of highways A 6, A 7, A 8 and A 9, so that the nearest motorway is 40 km away.
