Euskal Bizikleta
The Euskal Bizikleta (Basque ) or Bicicleta Vasca ( Spanish) was a Spanish cycling stage race held annually in the Basque Country.
The Euskal Bizikleta was a very hilly race, which is reflected in the winners list. With the introduction of the UCI Europe Tour in 2005, the race this series belonged to and was classified in the highest category 2.HC.
The race was held in 1991 under this name and had several previous events. (Spanish: Subida a Arrate - Bicicleta Eibarresa ) Eibarko Bizikleta - Under the same mode, the stage race Arrateko Igoera was in the years 1987-1990 held. As indicated by the composite name, this race came about from the merger of the stage race Eibarko Bizikleta and the one-day races Arrateko Igoera. The Arrateko Igoera was discharged with occasional interruptions from 1941 to 1986, so that this race seamlessly went into the succession race. In contrast, the last host the Eibarko Bizikleta took place in 1968. The nearly 20 -year-long break was filled in part by a five- year-long consolidation of this tour with the Basque Country Tour in the years 1969 to 1973. After increasing financial problems the race in 2009 was not discharged and fused to the Basque Country Tour.
