Eva Bosáková

Eva Bosáková - Hlaváčková ( born December 18, 1931 in Mlada Boleslav as Eva Vechtová, † November 10, 1991 in Prague) was a Czech gymnast who won medals for Czechoslovakia at three Olympic Games.

Career

In 1952 she even appeared at the Olympic Games in Helsinki under her birth name. It reached as the best gymnast of their team ranked 14th in the all-around standings and won the bronze medal with the team. In the group gymnastics with individual devices it has been with the team sixth. In the gymnastics world championships in Rome in 1954 she again won the bronze medal with the team. In multiplayer battle she won silver behind Galina Rud'ko from the Soviet Union. Also silver she won on the ground behind Tamara Manina and on beam behind Keiko Tanaka.

After her marriage she joined in 1956 as Eva Bosáková. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 they finished seventh in the all-around standings and fifth with the team. In addition, she was placed in three equipment decisions on the ground and on the uneven bars, she was fourth, respectively. On the balance beam, she won points with Tamara Manina silver behind the Hungarian Agnes Keleti. In the group gymnastics, she took the 7th place team 1958 at the Gymnastics World Championships in Moscow she was second in the all-around and on bars behind each Larissa Latynina. On the ground, however, she won gold before Latynina. With the team, she took 2nd place behind the Soviet team.

At the turn competitions of the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960, she took tenth place in the all-around standings and was the first time only second best gymnast of her crew of young Věra Čáslavská. In the team competition the Tschechoslowakinnen won silver behind the Soviet team. Bosáková reached the singles final on the ground and on the balance beam. At the bottom, she finished fourth on beam and she won gold before Larissa Latynina. 1962 was the World Championships in Prague. The team was again second behind the Soviet team. Was Bosáková World Champion on the balance beam before Latynina, she was on the uneven second behind Irina Perwuschina. Eva Bosáková won 1952-1962 seven times the national champion in the all around. The devices they won 31 more titles. After her second marriage she was called Eve Hlaváčková.
