Fahrettin Özdilek

Emin Fahrettin Özdilek (* 1898 in Bursa, † 13 March 1989 in Ankara ) was a Turkish general, politician and current Prime Minister of Turkey.

Following basic training, he graduated from the Military School Edirne. In 1916 he came to the officer candidate school. On 1 June 1917 he was promoted to lieutenant. End of 1920, Özdilek involved in the Turkish War of Independence. As of 1 March 1921 he led as a lieutenant III. Cavalry Division in battles in the West in the Greek -Turkish War. Between 1925 and 1927 he finished his education at the Military Academy and at the Cavalry School. In 1933, he attended the military academy. On August 30, 1936, he was promoted to Major. On November 6, 1936, he graduated from the Academy with the rank of staff officer. Between 1936 and 1959 he worked in various positions within the Turkish Armed Forces. On August 30, 1959, he was appointed General.

After the military coup had on 27 May 1960 Özdilek became a member of the Committee of National Unity. On June 9, Özdilek was appointed defense minister in the government Cemal Gürsel. On November 21, 1960, he was appointed Minister of State and Deputy Prime Minister. As at October 26, 1961 Prime Minister Cemal Gursel became president, Özdilek took over from October 27 1961 to November 20, 1961 the post of prime minister. Between 1961 and 1980 Özdilek was a natural member of the Senate and President of the Group of National Unity (Milli birlik grubu ). In the parliamentary elections of 1983 he was elected deputy of Konya for Halkçı particles in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
