Fat Freddy's Drop

Fat Freddy 's Drop is a band from Wellington, New Zealand. Their musical style can be described as a mix of dub, roots reggae, soul and jazz.

History

Traded a long time as an insider tip, they did have any albums on the European market, but still came in mid- 2004 in Europe ( including Berlin ). Only their songs and Hope This Room were at this time on the Best Seven Selections ( Sonar Kollektiv, 2004) published.

Their first release was the album Live at the Matterhorn ( 2001), recorded at a concert in a night club in Wellington. It was followed by several releases on various compilations, mostly in New Zealand. 2005, her album Based on a True Story, which was released in Europe. It saw huge sales despite little advertising. So it reached on the first day after the release Gold status.

Next was singer Joe Dukie guest appearances, among others the German DJ duo Boozoo Bajou, Eva Be ( Sonar Kollektiv ), Clara Hill, Nightmares on Wax and Recloose, and there are also some publications under the name Joe Dukie and DJ Fitchie.

Their performance is characterized mainly by extremely strong modifications of the original songs that end partially in a mixture of cover songs and their own. Live they are supported by the rapper MC slave.
