Fernando José Torres Sanz ( born March 20, 1984 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football player. His nickname is El Niño (the child ). He is since 2011 at Chelsea under contract. He is a World Champion, European Champion and Europa League winners. He also won the Champions League in 2012.

Atletico Madrid
Torres already played six years in the youth teams of Atlético Madrid, before he became a professional player. In 1998 he won with his young team an international tournament, organized by the sports goods manufacturer Nike. He was honored as one of the best players of the competition. Back in 1999, signed the attacker his first professional contract with the people of Madrid. On 31 January 2011 Chelsea Torres committed ( 58 million euros ) for the British record transfer fee of 50 million pounds. He signed a contract for the next five and a half years until 30 June 2016 and earned 175,000 pounds per week. Thus he occupies the 6th place of the international transfer of records in football and the first place in the Premier League. His debut for his new club gave Torres 6 February 2011 (26th matchday of the Premier League) in the 0-1 home defeat of Chelsea against his old club Liverpool and was in the 66th minute, replaced by Salomon Kalou.
In the following twelve competitive games Torres could not score a goal. The Kicker sports magazine called his debut with Chelsea therefore a " scoreless tragedy". In the National Team
In the U-16 European Championship Torres won the title of the scorer and was voted player of the tournament. In the final, he scored the winning goal for Spain against France and secured his team the title. The same was also repeated at the U-19 European Championship.
His debut in the Spanish national team celebrated Fernando Torres on September 6, 2003. On April 28, 2004, he scored his first hit in the dress of his native country. Thus he became the youngest scorer in the Spanish.
He participated in the 2004 European Championships in Portugal, where he was deployed three times and was a regular player and three time scorer at the World Cup 2006 in Germany.
At the 2008 European Championships in Austria and Switzerland, he prepared ( with number 9 ) in the opening match of Group D against Russia 's first goal from David Villa before. He came on in the 75th minute and shot in the 84th minute the third goal for Spain. Four minutes later, he was the template for the 4-0 by Juan Mata. With a total of three goals and an assist Torres was top scorer. In the Spanish starting lineup Torres stood at the European Championships only in the preliminary games against Croatia and Ireland.
On 7 September 2012, he played in the game against Saudi Arabia his 100th game for Spain. He is the sixth and was also the youngest Spanish international player to reach the 100 mark.
On June 20, 2013, he scored the Confederations Cup match against Tahiti at the four gates; Spain won the game 10-0. With a total of five goals and an assist in 273 minutes of play Fernando Torres was top scorer of the competition.

Private
Torres married on 27 May 2009 in a civil ceremony to his longtime girlfriend Olalla Domínguez in Madrid. On 8 July 2009 their daughter was born. On 6 December 2010, his son was born. Torres is seen in the music video Ya Nada VOLVERA A Ser Como Antes of the Spanish rock band El Canto del Loco, whose singer, Dani Martín is a friend of the footballer.
