FIBT World Championships 1953

The 13th Bob World Cup took place in 1953 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen in Germany. The World Cup was overshadowed by the death of the Swiss Unglick Felix Endrich. After he still won the gold medal in two-man, he died a week later during the race with the four-man event.

Results

Two-

The four runs were held on 24 and 25 January 1953. On the final day 15,000 spectators watched the two crucial races.

Bobsled

The Swiss Felix Endrich was hurled with his four-man event at the track running on the first day of the race from the infamous Bayernkurve. He suffered a broken neck and died on the way to hospital. The jury was then from the first two races. On Sunday, February 1, 1953, the World Series was decided by just two runs.
