FIBT World Championships 2012

The 58th Bob World Cup was held from February 13 to 26, 2012 in Lake Placid in the United States instead. After 1949, 1961, 1969, 1973, 1978, 1983, 2003 and 2009 Lake Placid was for the 9th time host of the Bobweltmeisterschaft. In addition to the 2009 Skeleton World Cup 1997 already performed once.

As the venue was elected on 9 June 2008 by the St. Moritz originally held in Chianciano Terme Congress of the International Bobsleigh and Luge Federation (FIBT ). On May 31, 2009, Bob World Cup in 2013 was awarded to Lake Placid at the FIBT Congress in Moscow. The venues but were replaced in September 2010. The change was made for reasons of cost, since the end of the 2012/13 season a week of training on the Olympic track at Krasnaya Polyana is planned and incurred from Switzerland significantly lower transportation expenses.

Of the 29 reported 27 bobsleigh team went to the start. Russia I was disqualified for being underweight and Netherlands II because of being overweight.

The teams consisted of one male and one female skeleton pilots as well as one male and one female Zweierbobteam. First launched the male skeleton pilot, then the Frauenbobteam, after which the female skeleton pilot and as a conclusion the bobsleigh team of men. Only one run was extended each which adds four individual runs for an overall result.

The Team Canada Canada II was reported, but was not at the start.
