Fischlham

Fischlham is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Wels-Land in Hausruckviertel with 1321 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The competent jurisdiction is catfish.

Geography

Fischlham is located on 353 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The extension is 7 km from north to south and from west to east 5.1 km. The total area is 15.6 km ². 18.6% of the area is forested and 68.6 % of the area is used for agriculture.

Coat of arms

Official Description of 1981 conferred municipality coat of arms: Azure, one above the other three golden fish, golden wave between two strips. The municipality colors are blue -yellow-green.

The fish symbolize as canting arms the place name, the two wave bars represent the Traun and the pasture, which form the north-western and western boundary of the parish.

History

In 1179, Fischlham first named as Vischenhaim ( = settlement of fishermen ) in a document of Pope Alexander III. mentioned for the Kremsmünster. Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times.

1895-1897 Adolf Hitler lived in Hafeld and attended elementary school in Fischlham. Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ".
