Pennewang

Pennewang is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Wels-Land in Hausruckviertel with 889 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Pennewang is located on 396 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The village belonged until 2012 to the judicial district of Lambach and since 1 January 2013 part of the judicial district of Wels. The expansion is 7.4 kilometers from north to south and from west to east 4.6 km. The total area is 18.3 km ². 23.5 % of the area is forested and 68.9 % of the area is used for agriculture. The highest elevation of the community Pennewang located at 504 meters. Quarters are Arbing, stream sites, Brown Mountain, width-, Dirnberg, Felling, Digging, Horning, Krexham, Mitterfils, Nölling, Oberfils, Parzham, Pennewang, Pimming, Pühret, Rosenberg, Schmitz Mountain, Schneiting, Relay, Stürzling, Unterfils, undergrowth, Weinzierl, Weissbach and Wiesham.

Coat of arms

Official description of the municipality coat of arms: Sitting in gold on green hill a red left -turn margined squirrel holding a green nut in the front legs; about two black, diagonally crossed keys.

The municipality colors are green and yellow.

The keys in 1987 conferred coat of arms refer to the Abbey of St. Peter in Salzburg, which is in the possession of the goods Breitenau for over a thousand years. The squirrel comes from the coat of arms Jörg Treytelkhofers, a nurse at Good Breitenau whose grave stone from 1453 is located on the outside wall of the parish church. The hill symbolizes the elevation of the community.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed.
