Fleurey-lès-Lavoncourt

Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt situated at an altitude of 224 m above sea level, about 28 km west of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the west of the department, in the northwest of the plateau landscape Saônetals, in the wide opening of the village Bach.

The area of ​​9.50 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the plateau north of the Saônetals. The southern boundary runs mostly along the Gourgeonne that flows with many windings through the Alluvialniederung and provides drainage to the Saône. The flood plain is, on average, 210 meters and has a maximum width of one kilometer. From the river, the municipality's area extends northward to the adjacent plateau, which reaches an average height of 240 m. The plateau consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the upper Jurassic period. The plateau is divided by the trough of the Ruisseau de Fleurey and other valleys. In the Talniederung and on the plateau dominates agricultural use. To the north, the area extends into the extensive grove of Corne au Fiètre. With 267 m Bois is achieved the highest elevation of Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt in the far north on the edge of the Grand.

Neighboring communities of Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt are La Roche- Morey in the north, Vauconcourt - Nervezain in the east, Mont -Saint -Léger and Renaucourt in the south and Fran Court and Villers- Vaudey in the West.

History

Fleurey is mentioned as Florus Romain. The origin of the settlement probably formed a Benedictine priory. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. In 1569 the Duke of Zweibrücken took lodgings in the village. With his departure Fleurey as well as many other towns in the area were looted and burned by the troops. Together with the Franche -Comté Fleurey came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To avoid confusion with other communities of the same name, Fleurey in 1837 officially renamed Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt. Today Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt is a member of the 42 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Quatre Rivières.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Brice was built in the 18th and 19th centuries. It houses a richly carved altar from the 18th century. Near the church there is a Calvaire, which is dated to the year 1772, and a covered fountain of 1873.

Population

With 103 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt one of the smallest municipalities in the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 405 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Fleurey -lès- Lavoncourt was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, especially in the sectors of wood processing and construction. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Lavoncourt after Lavigney. Further road links exist with Fran Court, Villers- Vaudey and Vauconcourt - Nervezain.
