Fondation Pierre Gianadda
The Fondation Pierre Gianadda is an existing private foundation since 1976 with a major art exhibition space in Martigny in the Swiss canton of Valais.
Origin of the Fondation
Léonard Gianadda, engineer, journalist, artist and internationally award honored patron of the Arts, took place in 1976 on a site on which he was to build a house, the remains of a Roman temple. Since his younger brother Pierre had come with only 25 years in a plane crash killed Léonard founded a cultural foundation and gave it to commemorate his brother 's name Pierre Gianadda.
Léonard Gianadda acquired the premises and left just above the excavation of the ruins of temples build a concrete building with modern architecture after his own design.
Overall information about the Foundation
The Fondation has an annual budget of about 8 million Swiss francs, to which the community participates in Martigny with more than 545,000 SFr. About 60 employees are employed. Since the opening of museums more than 6.7 million visitors from around the world received ( as of 2006).
The different areas of the Fondation
Main building
The big new building serves as entrance building and exhibition hall. It houses three permanent exhibitions: the Gallo -Roman Museum on the early history of the place, the ten most beautiful paintings from the collection of Evelyn and Louis Franck, and a small vintage car collection of 50 cars from the years 1897 to 1939, including rare exhibits from Swiss automotive manufacturers.
The large central room of the main building is used for multi- annual changing art exhibitions mainly private collections and rare exhibits and concerts.

Park Villa
In the midst of the park is the old Arsenal building of the Fondation, in which the administration is housed and a permanent exhibition of drawings and models on the subject of Leonardo da Vinci - inventor is shown.
A bistro in an extension to the Villa Park offers visitors a little refreshment.
Restoration Workshop
The Fondation restored with own specialists works of art of various types, to other museums and institutions.
