Fontenois-lès-Montbozon

Fontenois -lès- Montbozon is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Fontenois -lès- Montbozon situated at an altitude of 265 m above sea level, 3 km northwest of Montbozon and approximately 16 km south-southeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village road extends in a tributary of the river valley north Linotte Ognon, between the forest heights of Mont d' Ormenans in the south and the Bois du Fays in the north.

The area of ​​14.27 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the south and Ognon Saône in the northwest. The central part of the area is traversed in an east-west direction from the trough of Fontenois, which is on average 260 m. Through the village stream, the well is drained west to Linotte. Flanked the trough of high plateaus, which consist of limestone of the Upper Jurassic time. They are located at 300 to 320 m and are partly forested, partly passed with arable and meadow land. North of the village, the Bois du Fays are (330 m) and Beauregard ( 339 m). To the east and southeast of the area reaches the plateau Montbozon, and in the south on the plateau of Mont d' Ormenans, on the 348 meters, the highest elevation of Fontenois -lès- Montbozon is achieved. To the west, the municipality's area covers about 500 m wide Talniederung the Linotte, the adjoining heights of the Bois de la Bouloie ( to 318 m) up in the little valley of the Filaine. This short right tributary of the Linotte forms the western boundary of the municipality.

History

In the Middle Ages Fontenois -lès- Montbozon belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local rule was for the family of Fontenois that is mentioned in 1164 and became extinct in the 13th century. Together with the Franche -Comté came Fontenois -lès- Montbozon with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. With the opening of the railway line from Besançon Lure the village was connected end of the 19th century to the French railway network. Today the line is shut down, however. Since 2000 Fontenois -lès- Montbozon is a member of the comprehensive 21 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays de Montbozon.

Attractions

The village church of Fontenois -lès- Montbozon was built in 1780. Worth the Fontaine- Lavoir is in the village center, which was built from 1830 to 1831 and has a domed roof with 16 columns. In the village are houses from the 17th to 19th centuries have been preserved in the characteristic style of the Haute -Saône, including a building with staircase tower. On the corridor Ormeau the remains are ( ditches and banks ) of a medieval castle.

Population

With 303 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Fontenois -lès- Montbozon is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 476 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Fontenois -lès- Montbozon was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are now several companies of local small businesses. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Montbozon after Dampierre -sur- Linotte. Further road links exist with Bouhans -lès- Montbozon and Sorans -les- Cordier.
