Savez of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Bosnian - Herzegovinian Football Association ( Bosnian Nogometni / Fudbalski Savez of Bosnia and Herzegovina, short NFSBIH ), the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Football Association was founded in 1992 and 1996 for the first time a member of the world football governing body FIFA. Until 1992 the Football Association was part of the Yugoslav Football Association.

Euro 2008

The Bosnian Football Federation applied together with the Croatian Football Federation to host the Euro 2008. However, it was awarded to Austria and Switzerland.

The Bosnian Premijer League

The first season of the Bosnian Premijer League was first played already in the war of 1994 in tournament. The 24 teams were divided into four groups here, in the city of group head of their games (in this case: Sarajevo, Jablanica, Tuzla and Zenica ) were holding within two weeks. In each case, the two group winners qualified for quarter finals, the winner again playing off the championship in group mode. Despite many interruptions by repeated shelling of the stadium in Zenica, the home team Čelik Zenica FK Sarajevo, Bosna Sarajevo and Visoko Željezničar prevailed. The team also won in the next two seasons, which have now been discharged in the league mode, the championship.

1996 split of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Federation in the Football Association of Republika Srpska ( FSRS ) and the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina Federation ( NSF), each with its own leagues founded. 2000 merged the associations again and put their respective highest league together. In the first season of the premier league so common were initially 22 teams against each other, to date, this number was reduced to 16. The second to fifth leagues are designed still twofold.

On 1 April 2011 suspended by FIFA and UEFA the NFSBIH preliminary because no majority could be achieved for amending the statutes, as requested by FIFA and UEFA at the NFSBIH General Assembly on March 29, 2011.
