Frambouhans

Frambouhans is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Frambouhans is located on 865 m, 4 km south-west of Maîche and about 14 km north of the town of La Chaux -de-Fonds (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in the midst of the broad plateaux of Maîche, at the eastern foot of the ridge of the Vieux Ban.

The area of ​​10:10 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The entire area is occupied by the weakly in relief plateau Maîche, which is on average 880 m. It is mainly consisted of meadow and pasture land, but also shows some larger forest areas, particularly the Grand Bois in the east. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. On the communal land, there are several sinkholes. To the west, the municipality's area extends to the ridge of the Vieux Ban, on the 960 m, the highest elevation of Frambouhans is achieved.

History

In the Middle Ages Frambouhans belonged to the rule Maîche. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church of Frambouhans originally dates from the 16th century but was extensively rebuilt in the 20th century. The village fountain dating from 1775.

Population

With 807 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Frambouhans one of the small communities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1896 618 persons were still counted ), a continuous increase in population was recorded since the early 1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure
