Vauclusotte

Vauclusotte is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Vauclusotte is located on 452 m, 6 km north- west of Maîche and about 26 km south of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in a valley of the village creek, which opens to the south to the Valley of Dessoubre, at the southern foot of the ridge Montaigu.

The area of ​​7.62 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The southern boundary runs along the Dessoubre, the deeply cut in spiral running in the surrounding Jura plateau of south-west flows to the northeast. The steep valley sides are repeatedly traversed by Kalkfelsbändern. North of the Dessoubre the community area extends into the basin of Vauclusotte, which was created in the course of millions of years from a side stream from the erosion power. The basin has at the upper edge of the slope has a diameter of about two kilometers. It is bounded on the west by the amount of Mongens, in the north of Montaigu and the east by another distinctive advantage. With 700 m of the Montaigu is achieved the highest elevation of Vauclusotte on the southern slope.

History

In the Middle Ages Vauclusotte belonged to the field of rule of Châtillon- sous- Maîche, which was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Burgundy. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church of Vauclusotte was built in 1830. In the village many farmhouses in the traditional style of the Franche -Comté are from the 16th to 19th centuries.

Population

With 97 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Vauclusotte is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Throughout the 20th century, a continuous decline in population was recorded after 1886 yet 266 people were counted.

Economy and infrastructure

Vauclusotte was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( livestock and dairy farming, arable farming and fruit growing ) embossed village. Even today, most of the inhabitants live on the activities in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares. The main access is from the D39 ( Department of Road through the Dessoubre valley ) at Orgeans -Blanche Fontaine. Another road connection with Valoreille.
