Francis Coquelin

Francis Coquelin (born 13 May 1991, Laval ) is a French football player who is under contract with SC Freiburg since 2013.

Career

Association

Francis Coquelin was born in Laval and began in 2000 AS you BOURNY the football games. In 2005 came the move to the most famous club of his hometown, Stade Laval. In March 2008 he was discovered in a qualifying match for the U-17 Football Championship in 2008 against Israel from Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandi. In July 2008, he joined the youth academy of FC Arsenal, and despite an initial injury to the thigh, a contract was offered to him. He took part in the pre-season 2008/ 09 the pros and played in the friendlies against Barnet FC and Haladás Szombathely. On September 23, he completed a 6-0 victory over Sheffield United in the League Cup in his first competitive game when he came on in the 71st minute for Fran Mérida. In a game the Arsenal reserve on October 6, he scored his first ever goal against the replacement of Stoke City.

His first game in the starting lineup, he played on 22 September 2009 at the League Cup against West Bromwich Albion, but was replaced in the 58th minute by Mark Randall. Less than a month later, he came off the bench in the second round against Liverpool in the 87th minute for Fran Mérida. His third and final season game, he completed on January 24, 2010, when he played in the 1-3 defeat against Stoke City from the start, but was replaced in the 67th minute fo Aaron Ramsey.

For the 2010/11 season he was awarded for one year at the French club FC Lorient. In exchange Lorient 's defender Laurent Koscielny came permanently to the " Gunners ". On 16 Matchday he acquired in the 3:6 defeat at Lille a first assist, when he played a pass to Kevin Gameiro, whom he brought in goal. On 26 February 2011, he was directed against FC Valenciennes for the first time from space. After he got the first yellow card after 21 minutes, followed by 52 minutes into the second, and thus the dismissal. At the end of the loan period Coquelin returned to England.

28 August 2011 Coquelin were in the 2:8 defeat of the " Gunners " at Manchester United his debut in the Premier League. His second game in the starting bank, he completed against Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal lost with 1:2 and Coquelin was chosen by the fans for Man of the Match. On 6 December, he made his debut in the UEFA Champions League in the 1-3 defeat at Olympiakos Piraeus. On January 6, 2012 Coquelin extended his current contract and will remain so Arsenal a few more years of faithful.

On 5 July 2013, the Bundesliga club SC Freiburg announced the commitment Coquelins on loan. Whether the contract includes an option to purchase, was not known.

On 3 game against 1899 Hoffenheim, the Frenchman got 41 minutes in the first yellow card.

National

From 2007 to 2010 he played for the U -17, U -18 and U-19 National Team of France. His greatest achievement was winning the U-19 European Football Championships 2010. Since winning the U-19 European Championship playing for the U-20 national team.

Together with team-mate Gilles Sunu he took part in the U-20 World Cup 2011 in Colombia, reaching France to fourth place.
