Franz Doppler

( Albert) Franz Doppler ( Doppler Ferenc Albert, born October 16, 1821 in Lemberg, Galicia, † July 27, 1883 in Baden bei Wien ) was an Austro- Hungarian composer.

Life

From 1828 to 1831 Franz Doppler (as well as his brother Karl Doppler) was informed by the father. This was a composer, worked as an oboist at the Warsaw Opera, and helped his sons to a solid musical foundation. Franz Doppler debuted as a thirteen- year-old in Vienna, before he performed with his brother Charles as a duo. In 1838, Franz Doppler was principal flute in the German theater in Pest, and three years later on Színház Nemzeti ( National Theatre) in Budapest. During this time he was with several operas his debut as a composer and was together with Ferenc Erkel to " midwife " of the Hungarian national music. Together with his brother Karl and colleagues Erkel he was also one of the founders in 1853 of the first Hungarian Symphony Orchestra.

Then Franz Doppler went with his brother on tour. You concerted inter alia, in Brussels and Weimar, where they met Franz Liszt, and occurred in 1856 along with Karl Hubay, father of the famous violinist Jenő Hubay, in London. Both Franz Doppler and his brother Charles were always supporters of the French keyed flute and the system Tulou.

In 1858, Franz Doppler was first flutist and conductor at the Vienna Court Opera, and later chief conductor, but always remained faithful to the flute.

From 1864 to 1867 Franz Doppler was professor of flute at the Conservatory of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna. He composed a German and several Hungarian operas, ballets, concerts and flute arrangements Hungarian ways. With his brother Charles, he undertook as a flute virtuoso further concert tours throughout Europe and celebrated here with great success.

In the first days of June 1883 Doppler, band arrived at the Vienna Court Opera, as a spa guest in Baden near Vienna, where he breathed his last seven weeks later.
