Funky Diamonds

Funky Diamonds was the first German girl group that came into existence around the same time as the Spice Girls. They were also the first and most successful German girl group who represented the ideology of Girl Power.

History

The group originally consisted of the five members Simone, Diethilde, Indra, Sibel and Yvonne, who knew privately even before their time together in the spotlight. The consequences of a serious traffic accident Sibel had the group but leave again, but Kira took her seat in 1996. Three years later, she left the band.

From 1993 to 1996, the Funky Diamonds as pure dance group active, including as background dancers for DJ BoBo. Thus, the record company Boombastic Music Berlin became aware of it and took the girlfriends under contract. In addition, her career was henceforth supported by Vocal coaching, so, they became vocal artists soon. The group had great success mainly in Japan and was there for her debut album, a gold award; Nevertheless success was in Germany - despite appearances as the opening act of the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync and high media presence.

After seven singles and two albums, the group broke then in December 1999. Coinciding with the release of their second album Kira left the group. Although they can be heard on some songs, her photo has been removed from the album cover, because she also none of the performances with. In the Japanese version, it is however to be seen.

Then Indra tried to land with a solo single a comeback, but due to personal differences with her management, it remained at a single.

To this day, they continue to work as dancers or as a call-in animators.
