Gábor Köves

Gábor Köves ( born January 7, 1970 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian tennis player.

Career

Köves, who specialized in the double, was especially successful on the second-rate Challenger Tour. He won in his career four Challenger titles. On the ATP Tour, he reached 1996 in Bologna and 1998 in Bogota each in the finals, but lost both. At Grand Slam tournaments he never got beyond the second round.

He participated in three Summer Olympics, in part: 1988 in Seoul, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. He joined in 1988 and 1996 with László Markovits and 2000 Attila Sávolt in the doubles competition. In 1988, he and Markovits met in the opening round on the Mexicans Leonardo Lavalle and Agustín Moreno, who could defeat them. In the second round they lost to later gold medal winners Ken Flach and Robert Seguso from the United States. In 1996, she retired in the first round against the South Africans Ellis and Wayne Ferreira. For the Games in 2000 he did not come together with Sávolt also beyond the first round. They lost in three sets against the Italians Cristian Brandi and Massimo Bertolini.

Köves played between 1988 and 2001 a total of 16 matches for the Hungarian Davis Cup team. He came only in double used and was able to win 10 of his 16 matches.
