Gebenbach

Amberg is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate district of Amberg -Sulzbach and a member of the administrative community Hahnenbach.

Gebenbach divided into three districts:

  • Atzmannsricht
  • Gebenbach
  • Kainsricht

History

Gebenbach 1138 first mentioned in records. The settlement was probably due to a Frankish foundation in the 9th century. In 1974 came the new building of the parish church of St. Martin on ruins of a previous building, which could have come from circumstances under the Carolingian period ( 751-911 AD). The simple hall building with apse retracted likely among the oldest archaeologically explored church foundations of Upper Palatinate. In the High Middle Ages, close relations between Amberg and the Bamberg Cathedral Church existed at the time of Bishop Otto I in the 12th century. In Gebenbach officiated in the 12th century, a ministerial Bishop of Bamberg. The basic rule of the Bamberger was exercised by Prüfening monastery.

Through laws and decrees of the Bavarian State Gebenbach was and thus assigned in 1808 to the political community and the district court Amberg the Naabkreis. After the dissolution of Naabkreises in favor of the main circuit and the rain circle Gebenbach, together with the District Court of Amberg assigned in 1810 to the rain circle (from 1838 " Upper Palatinate and Regensburg ").

1838 a separate country court Vilseck was founded. In the course of Gebenbach was separated from the District Court of Amberg together with the communities Adlholz, marriage field Gressenwöhr, Great Palace, Hahnenbach, Iber, Irlbach, Long Bruck, mass straightening, sizing, Seugast, Sigl, sweet, Vilseck and White Mountain and associated with the new district court Vilseck.

Coat of arms

Gebenbach leads since 1967 a coat of arms.

Official coat of arms description

Under golden head of the shield, is a blue wave beams in red, a continuous silver paws cross which is covered by an oblique bar.

Significance of the coat of arms symbols

The Tatzenkreuz is the heraldic badge Check Happenings, the oblique bar comes from the coat of arms of Bamberg. Both symbols represent the historical relations Enter Bach with Bamberg and the monastery Prüfening dar. The wave bar speaks for the place name part of " bach " and the golden color of the shield Haupt from the arms of Hahnenbach reminded that Gebenbach long time was part of the Bailiwick Hahnenbach.

Traffic

By the middle of the town, the B runs 14 Furthermore, runs through Gebenbach the railway line Amberg- Schnaittenbach which is mainly used for removal of Kaolinsandprodukten from the west Gebenbach lying Kaolintagebauen.
