Genainville

Genainville is a commune with 564 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise in the Île- de -France region. The inhabitants call themselves " Genainvillois " or " Genainvilloises ".

Geography

The community Genainville located 50 kilometers north-west of Paris.

Neighboring communities of Genainville are Omerville in the north and northwest, Hodent in the north, Charmont in the northeast, Maudétour -en- Vexin in the east and southeast, Villers -en- Arthies in the south and southwest and Chaussy in the West. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park Vexin français.

History

Findings from the history testify to an early settlement. Gallo - Roman ruins, such as a Nymphaeum and a theater in the 2nd century, are remnants of a larger town during the Roman period.

The place is first 849 handed in documents as " Genestivilla ". In the 12th century a priory was founded, the long time exercised the basic rule in place.
