Vienne-en-Arthies

Vienne -en- Arthies is a commune with 417 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise in the Île- de -France region. It belongs to Arrondissement Pontoise on the Canton Magny -en- Vexin. The residents " Viennois " and " Viennoises " call themselves.

Geography

The municipality is located in the heart of Vexin, 1.5 km east banks of the Seine and about 50 kilometers northwest of Paris. The territory of Vienne is part of the Regional Natural Park Vexin français.

History

The name of the village comes from the stream Vienna. Arthies means to Gaul and Latin hut ( Attegia ) and Celtic House ( Arthies ). The town was formerly a part of the community Vetheuil. During the French Revolution the three hamlets were separated from Vetheuil, thus the community Vienne -en- Arthies arose.
