Haute-Isle

Haute -Isle is a commune of 314 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise in the Île- de -France region. The inhabitants call themselves " Hautillois " or " Hautilloises ".

Geography

The municipality of Haute -Isle is located 65 kilometers west of Paris, in the valley of the Seine and at the level above the Seine.

Neighboring towns of Haute -Isle Chérence are in the north, Villers -en- Arthies in the east, in the southeast Vetheuil, Moisson in the south and La Roche- Guyon in the west and southwest.

The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park Vexin français.

History

Until the 19th century the inhabitants of the place lived almost entirely in the dwellings that were in the Kalkhängen the Seine. The cave church is today a remnant of that time.
