General der Gebirgstruppe

General of the mountain troops was a military rank in the German Wehrmacht. Similar ranks were introduced in the Wehrmacht for other branches of service. There was in the Army General of the Infantry, Cavalry General, General of Artillery, General of Panzer troops, the Engineer General, General of the Signal Corps and in the Air Force Luftwaffe General, General of the flak, General of the paratroops and general of the air corps. In the same rank was the admiral in the Navy.

The next lower rank was lieutenant general, the next higher Colonel General.
