Geneva International Music Competition

The Concours de Genève (formerly Concours international d' exécution musicale de Genève, Genève - CIEM ) is an international music competition for piano, voice and other musical instruments, which takes place every year in Geneva.

Alternately, the competition is dedicated each year the piano or singing as well as a second instrument (violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, Trompette, Trombone, percussion instrument or string quartet ). At the 65th edition in November 2010 were at the piano and oboe.

The Concours de Genève was founded in 1939 by Henri Gagnebin and Frédéric Liebstoeckl. It is subsidized by the City of Geneva and the Canton of Geneva. It is organized by a foundation, in partnership with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Grand Théâtre ( Geneva Opera ) and the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève. The competition was run until 1979 by Frédéric Liebstoeckl, then until 1998 by Franco fish, and since then Didier Schnorhk 's Secretary General.
