George Eckstein

George Eckstein ( May 3, 1928 in Los Angeles, California, † 12 September 2009 in Brentwood, California ) was an American screenwriter and television producer.

Life

Eckstein attended Stanford University and the University of California and served 1953-1955 in the United States Army. In 1959 he produced on Broadway, the musical Billy Barnes Revue. Since the early 1960s he worked as a producer and screenwriter on several television series such as Gunsmoke and Dr. Kildare. Between 1966 and 1967 he was responsible for the series The Fugitive and was co-author and producer of the final double episode which 72% had the highest ratings of the time series in the history of American television. By the early 1970s, he produced TV movies on ABC. His productions also included duel, the first television game film of the hitherto unknown Steven Spielberg.

Cornerstone was temporarily board member of the Writers Guild of America. He was 1953-1966 married to actress Ann Guilbert, with whom he had two children, including the actress Hallie Todd.
